1What is a 2nd or 3rd tier supplier?
"Tiers" are categories that suppliers fall into, based on the distance in the relationship between the supplier and manufacturer. If a supplier sends products directly to an OEM (original equipment manufacturer), then that supplier is considered a tier-1 supplier. Tier-2 suppliers, oftentimes, supply the tier-1 suppliers. Tier-3 suppliers, oftentimes, supply tier-2 suppliers, etc.
